What is a lower body injury claim?

A lower body injury refers to any bodily damage that affects you from the waist down. If you’ve suffered a lower body injury and it was due to someone else’s negligence, you could have grounds to make a claim.

Some of the more common causes of lower body injuries include:

But this isn’t an exhaustive list. However you’ve sustained your injury, if it wasn’t your fault, we could help you start a case for compensation.

If you’re not sure whether you have a claim, get in touch with our friendly advisors. We offer a free no obligation consultation, so you’ll have nothing to lose by getting in touch.

Why should I make a lower body injury claim?

Lower body injuries can severely impact mobility, and you may be left feeling isolated after your accident. You may also find yourself unable to return to work, which can bring an additional layer of financial stress.

We know that making a claim won’t undo what’s happened, but it could help to remove some of the money worries you may have. Compensation would help you to cover the losses associated with taking time off work, as well as helping to pay for additional medical treatment or physiotherapy.

Bringing a case for compensation can also help to provide closure so that you can start to move forward. Taking legal action will also shine a light on the negligence that led to your injuries, so you could be helping to prevent the same thing from happening to someone else.

How can First4Lawyers help?

Our personal injury solicitors are experienced in handling claims involving lower body injuries. They understand the life-changing impact that an injury of this nature can have, and they’ll work hard to get you the justice and compensation you deserve.

We believe that care shouldn’t stop after the claim. And if we can take on your case, you’ll be assigned a dedicated solicitor who will help you access essential treatment to support your rehabilitation, as well as working to secure your compensation.

For these types of claims, we offer a No Win No Fee service. This means there will be nothing to pay upfront and no legal fees to cover if your claim is unsuccessful.

Only pay a fee if you receive compensation

Our No Win No Fee solicitors will take a success fee from the compensation you are awarded for a successful claim in the form of a percentage of your damages. This could be up to 25% but it won't be more than that, except in cases of road traffic accidents. Changing laws mean our solicitors will now take a payment of 30% of the final compensation amount plus VAT for all road traffic accident claims.

First4Lawyers are an award-winning claims management company with a track record of delivering service that our clients love.

Lower body injury claim FAQs

How long do I have to claim for a lower body injury?

You’ll usually have three years to make a lower body injury claim. This could be three years from your accident or from when you first became aware of your injuries (known as the date of knowledge).

Although three years sounds like a long time, we would suggest getting in touch with a legal expert as soon as you’re able to. This could make it easier for your solicitor to gather evidence related to your case. It may also be easier for you to remember the details of what happened.

Using the services of an experienced solicitor, you’ll have the reassurance of knowing all the relevant deadlines are met, giving your case the best chance of success.

How much compensation could I get?

Lower body injury compensation can vary depending on a number of factors, including how severe your injuries are and the impact they’ve had on your life.

But if your claim is successful, your compensation is likely to be split into two parts. These are known as general damages and special damages.

General damages will consider the physical and psychological pain caused by your injuries. These are set out by the Judicial College Guidelines and are updated regularly. For a rough estimate of how much your claim could be worth in general damages, try our free compensation calculator.

Special damages take into account the financial losses related to your accident. This could include lost earnings, the cost of medical treatment or transport to and from hospital appointments.

I think I have a lower body injury claim – what do I do?
