An estimated 50,000 women were affected by the PIP implants scandal, where French company Poly Implant Prostheses used non-medical grade silicone gel in its breast implants. The silicone was found to be prone to rupture, requiring surgery to have them removed.

Those particular implants were banned back in 2010, and most breast enlargements and reductions are carried out successfully.

Why should I claim compensation for breast implants gone wrong?

As well as being very upsetting and frightening, you will have to face the prospect of treatment and possible corrective surgery.  This is something that can cost in terms of time and money.

If your experience is due to medical negligence, claiming a compensation settlement can help ease any financial pressures, such as medical costs, travel for treatment, loss of earnings and any medication you’re required to take.  Allowing you to concentrate on recovery.

More about making a claim

How can First4Lawyers help?

We are here to take the pressure off you, and make a claim on your behalf.  Our friendly and fully trained advisers have many years' experience in medical negligence claims.  They can identify whether you have a claim and go through your options with you.

Our specialist solicitors offer a No Win No Fee service, so you don't have to pay for anything in advance – and if the claim is not successful, you don't pay a penny.

Only pay a fee if you receive compensation

Where we offer No Win No Fee services typically customers pay 25% of the amount recovered by our solicitors, although this will be subject to your individual circumstances and the actual fee may be less than this but it will never be more. Success fees are common practice and they were introduced when the law changed in April 2013.

First4Lawyers are an award winning claims management company with a track record of delivering service that our clients love.

How much compensation can I claim if my breast enlargement has gone wrong?

The amount of compensation depends on your individual case.  Settlements will consider:

  • Pain and suffering you’ve been through; physical as well as emotional. This is known as general damages.
  • Whether you have had to take time off work, resulting in loss of earnings.
  • Medical costs and ongoing treatment or corrective surgery
  • Travel to medical appointments

Our compensation calculator gives an indication to the general guidelines of the Judicial College.

Is there a time limit for making a breast surgery medical negligence claim?

Generally, a claim must be brought within three years of the injury,  or diagnosis of the cause of the injury.  Our specialist advisers can explain the process to you in more detail, with no legal jargon or pressure. The first consultation is free and you are not obliged to proceed with anything.
