Claiming for negligence by Michael Walsh

Shoulder surgeon Mr Michael Walsh has been accused of subjecting his patients to unnecessary operations, which left many in pain or suffering permanent complications.

Mr Walsh has been suspended by Spire Healthcare, the same firm that employed rogue surgeon Ian Paterson – who was jailed after disfiguring hundreds of breast cancer patients.

It has resulted in roughly 50 of his patients being recalled to the Leeds hospital they were treated at. If you were affected by Mr Walsh’s surgical negligence, you could make a claim for compensation.

Why make a Michael Walsh negligence claim?

You are entitled to compensation for an injury sustained in an incident that wasn’t your fault.

If you’ve been affected by an unnecessary surgery by Mr Michael Walsh, you may have suffered an injury that required you to take time off work or pay for further medical care. Compensation for a successful claim can help cover these expenses.

Although Mr Walsh has now been suspended – and has since retired – drawing attention to the people responsible for medical negligence can help to prevent it happening to others. You could help force healthcare providers to address the problems that have resulted in patients suffering serious harm.

How much compensation will I receive?

The amount of compensation you could be entitled to will depend on your individual circumstances. Without a consultation with our team, it’s difficult to say exactly what you could be awarded for your injury.

However, as an example, a severe shoulder injury could see compensation of up to £42,110 awarded.

You can use our compensation calculator for a rough idea of what you might be awarded.

Is there a time limit for making a Michael Walsh claim?

In most cases of surgery negligence, like that suffered by many of Mr Walsh’s patients, you have three years from the date of the operation to make a claim.

However, if you were not made aware that the reason for your injury was Mr Walsh’s negligence until after this period, you then have three years to make a claim from the date you find out. This is known as the date of knowledge.
